Denese Cavanaugh

Denese Cavanaugh

Founder of the IPATH Method

“Passion is definitely contagious, and when I’m on my mat, I am free to be myself, and aspire to share it with others.” While teaching alignment based yoga practices, her curiosity and passion for knowledge led her to create IPATH®, sharing her experiences with others with injuries, failing posture and back pain. Denese Cavanaugh developed Integral Postural Alignment Techniques, aka IPATH®, from 27 years dedicated to practicing various yoga styles, from Ashtanga to Yin. Her philosophy suggests cultivating yoga is an optimal path to wellness that is accessible to anyone wanting to learn.

In 2009, while exploring release techniques, she successfully completed case-studies, for private and group classes, and in 2012 codified the ”self-adjusting” IPATH sequence, to empower students/clients/teachers to go beyond peripheral layers of stress to reveal pain solution, and musculoskeletal imbalances for overall well being.

She is humbled and grateful to her teachers for sharing their unbounded insight and generosity and honored to share that with others.

Derik first encountered yoga in 1991, just after High School, on an extended sojourn around the globe.  While in India, he first met and became a student of Baba Hari Dass, a life long yogic adept, and master of raja, hatha, and karma yogas.

There, he studied yoga as a holistic system that included: asana, pranayama, meditation, bandha/mudra, fasting, periods of silence and early morning dips in the Ganges river.  The trip introduced him to spiritual practice and set the tone for his adult life.

He went on to be a student of the Iyengar method for eight years; and a dedicated student of Richard Freeman, Tias Little and Rod Stryker; completing multiple yoga teacher training courses along the way.

In 2001 he became a full time yoga teacher, accumulating over 10,000 hours of experience instructing workshops, retreats, and YTTs. Additionally, he is a professor of yoga at Metro College, founder of Denver Yoga Underground.

Lauren Bleck

Lauren Bleck

After earning her degree in college, Lauren moved around living in a van and riding bicycles. After a deeply vulnerable heart break, she felt her heart being pulled towards India. Lauren went on a life-changing spiritual quest at the age of 25, which led her to a 200-hour Yoga Alliance training in the heartland of India, where her vigilant Guru reminded her of her essence. She felt the energy there and found out that she connected deeply with Reiki.
She continued on with an RYT-500 through Yoga Alliance, with a focus on Kundalini energy. Being that music connects human souls together, Lauren has been teaching Harmonium and Mantra chanting to yoga instructors via zoom since early 2020.

Her goal on this earth is to bring that Divine energy from India to each of her students.

My name is Maggie Lightner and I’m an Advanced Yoga Educator and Teacher based in Denver, Colorado. I was lucky enough to discover yoga at the age of 14 while playing competitive club soccer. My classes aim to promote a synergistic relationship between ancient yogic wisdom, pranayama and modern postural practices to promote balance and healing for the whole being. Ravi Jaishankar

Ravi Jaishankar

Yoga has been with me since childhood. I am deeply grateful to have been born in India, grown up in a Hindu family, and studied a wide range of philosophies of Dharma. This exposure gave me first-hand spiritual experience that has percolated into myriad forms of personal practice today. My primary practice is Jnana Yoga, the Yoga of Self-Knowledge, which teaches the unity of Consciousness as the Absolute. Bhakti Yoga, the Yoga of Devotion, has been a major support to me, helping bridge the heart’s raw yearning and unconditional love into one. The practice of Tantra, the path of the Goddess, has brought profound depth to my Sadhana (spiritual practice) by revealing the presence of Shakti (Divine Feminine) in the subtle body. Additionally, my passion for Ayurveda and interest in psychotherapy have added a wonderful healing dimension to my practice. All this collided more recently with Asana, leading to a beautiful integration and refinement in the body. I also strive to approach Yoga from a decolonial lens which not only includes contemporary social justice perspectives but encompasses a larger Dharma based understanding to deconstruct asymmetric power dynamics between East and West that have deeply and negatively affected the roots of Yoga. I bring an emic (insider’s) perspective and critique the appropriative extraction, dilution and commodification process that Yoga has undergone in the West. I lovingly offer the fruits of my study, meditation and Sadhana to the community in the spirit of Satsang, which means ‘coming together to share in Truth’.

Sigrid Strebe

Sigrid Strebe

Owner of Transitions Yoga, Transitions Yoga at Balancing Goat & Transitions School of Yoga

Sigrid began her yoga journey in 2001 after being recruited by friends who were trying to gather enough people to get a class started. Barely able to touch her toes and never really “exercising” before, she took the bait and joined. Little did she know how Yoga would change the course of her life.

After teaching at various studios and fitness centers across the country since 2007, she opened Transitions Yoga in 2015. Starting her own studio created opportunities to expand her teaching and mentoring of students and teachers. The small 6 person studio has since expanded to a new space, added a regional 200 hour Teacher Training, retreats, and an additional aerial-based studio at Transitions Yoga at Balancing Goat in February 2020.

Sigrid’s mission is to encourage others to be the best version of themselves, to dream a little bigger and make you laugh with one of her terrible jokes. She believes that as business owners we are stronger together. If COVID taught us anything, it’s that we need to learn to collaborate, be creative when thinking about how business runs and that business as usual is unusual during challenging times.

And in case you’re wondering, Sigrid can now touch her toes, completed her first Ironman and survived a heart attack.

Founder of Move Through Yoga

Stefanie Gross started Move Through Yoga in 2008 as a way for her high school English students to minimize stress. Move Through Yoga, 501C3, became a “wait list only” elective to 50 students from all athletic, academic, and socio-economic backgrounds every semester for 5 years straight at a local high school in Florida. Once she moved to Colorado in 2017, Move Through Yoga became something even bigger. Now, using her advanced degrees and certifications in Instructional Design, Adapted Physical Education, and Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems, Stefanie designs standards aligned curricula for students with special needs, and trains educators and yoga teachers how to meet the needs of diverse learners and bodies. Move Through Yoga has signed with two top school districts in the Denver Metro Area, and together with their amazing staff, Move Through Yoga has been implemented in 17 high schools thus far, and by the end of 2023 in 16 middle schools.

Stephanie Strand

Stephanie Strand

I started my first yoga class in college as an extra credit class with my friend and loved it. I then took my first training in Minneapolis with YogaFit and started teaching at Cross-Fit gyms. I traveled west after college and did another intensive training with Jaya Yoga for their anatomical and fundamental movement-based practices. Wanting to continue along this path and feeling there was so much more to explore, I completed another training in Minneapolis with Devanadi and than progressed through to a Yoga Therapy program with Yoga North.

My passion is making creative sequences that blend together and move into a flowing meditation. Holding space for functional movement is what I want for students, so they can tune in to their own creative side and find their yoga path. With this life experience, I want to inspire connection, healing, and wholeness, where people are gathered to breathe, sweat, move, and achieve more than just a physical workout. Yoga is all about the balance between strength and flexibility, holding and releasing; with music and syncing of people as a community that creates a whole new experience, you can’t get anywhere else.
