Founder The Zestful Movement
Ericka has always loved individual, mindful movement since she was a child. Her love for love movement led her to study Dance at the University of Kansas. After the birth of her first child, she discovered yoga for her own personal wellness, and instantly fell in love with the practice. She became an avid student, and eventually became a teacher that sought to empower her students with their own practice of movement, body and breath awareness. She feels it is important to expand the idea of who can benefit from practicing mindful movement, along with wanting to create a more diverse student base. Ericka’s work with Chair Yoga gave her the distinguished opportunity to be a member of the Yoga Body and Image Coalition, as well as being a distinguised Guest Teacher for Yoga International during the entire of June in 2020. She believed in the practice of Chair Yoga to such an extent that she was able to bring the unknown practice to the City of Lenexa beginning with one class per week, which has grown to five, weekly, ongoing practices. Ericka loves sharing yoga, but her first love is her family. Outside of yoga, she enjoys gardening, writing, traveling, the outdoors, exploring new EATS in Kansas City, and being with her family and friends as often as possible! Owner of Transitions Yoga, Transitions Yoga at Balancing Goat & Transitions School of Yoga
Sigrid began her yoga journey in 2001 after being recruited by friends who were trying to gather enough people to get a class started. Barely able to touch her toes and never really “exercising” before, she took the bait and joined. Little did she know how Yoga would change the course of her life.
After teaching at various studios and fitness centers across the country since 2007, she opened Transitions Yoga in 2015. Starting her own studio created opportunities to expand her teaching and mentoring of students and teachers. The small 6 person studio has since expanded to a new space, added a regional 200 hour Teacher Training, retreats, and an additional aerial-based studio at Transitions Yoga at Balancing Goat in February 2020.
Sigrid’s mission is to encourage others to be the best version of themselves, to dream a little bigger and make you laugh with one of her terrible jokes. She believes that as business owners we are stronger together. If COVID taught us anything, it’s that we need to learn to collaborate, be creative when thinking about how business runs and that business as usual is unusual during challenging times.
And in case you’re wondering, Sigrid can now touch her toes, completed her first Ironman and survived a heart attack.
